Market Gifting for the Holidays

Food Holidays are coming!

Do you love good food made with love? Tis the season to eat well with those you love. We’re focusing on the culinary herbs this week before Thanksgiving. Whatever you’re cooking, enhance that meal or ord oeuvres, yep, it’s a mouthful, but save room for the main course! There are some gourmet dipping herbs, themed blends and themed dried herb pinching wreathes and bouquets for you to cook with or bring to the cook to be blessed with. Why do you use plastic, Lori?

The simple answer is that it’s so you can see what you’re getting and that the herbs stay as fresh as they start out from this years harvest. The dried herb wreathes, bouquets and tribute bunches are in airtight food safe containers designed to be reusable or recycled with us for a dollar each item. We’re working on sustainable labels or less. Ask us about any packaging…working on doing the most environmental and practical thing! What Road are You on this Fall?

We’re really into Fall now, and the road home is inviting. even when these trees loose their glory. When they loose them even though they can cause some eek! WORK, they’re great blankets for many plants. And they break down with water (rain and snow) so the soil is warm and fertile for perennials and annuals to grow at their best. When you come home from the farmers market with the yummy healthy produce, stock up on Old Bones Blend to relax after gathering those leaves. going home will be better when you’re equipped for this transitional season. SHARE YOUR LEAVES…till the end of October bring your trash bags of leaves to the U Pick all day Sundays and during our shop hours and get a cupful of dried Oregano or Goldenrod for your enjoyment and health!

Homecoming this weekend!

Lovage like celery on steroids! One of the best community weekends of fall, Homecoming really brings us out together. As a herb grower this time of year  busy in and out. We’re working on new bunches of blends, timely since they’re with herbs for Montana cooking that UM Interns have helped with. We have a few fresh herbs that like the cooler weather for sale! And since it’s the season, we’ll be sampling and selling Frontier Flu Brew. Dress warm, come to the booth and try some hot alone or with lemon and honey. Spread the herb…

The School Year has Started!

As a teacher, I’ve been enjoying sharing what I know by doing; researching local herbs, growing them sustainably and selling practical gourmet and wellness herb products “in the raw” (fresh, freshly dried and hand crushed). Fresh Herbs CAN be for You!

Did you know? Most of our culinary herbs started out as medicinal! Certainly we’ve got herbs that have been used exclusively for medicines for thousands of years. Fresh or dried? LOCAL herbs are great this time of here in all their glory, so learn how the use them in Sun Tea, salads and cooking or grilling. Fresh and Local Leaves…

Freshly dried Meadowsweet leaves are green with the underside silvery. The buds turn a golden yellow. I’m hand crushing this great anti-inflammatory plant that has an aroma that is reminiscent of cucumbers…ahh. A new batch of Old Bones Blend coming up for the winter market 9-2. Get it straight up, with Hindu Hillbilly’s honey and Balsamic vinegar for a twist!
